Nutritional care for people with Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD)

Nutritional care has been recognized as a pivotal and integral part of management at all stages of CKD. Through proper dietetic-nutritional care we aim to delay the progressive loss of renal function, maintain a good nutritional status (adequate intake of nutrients, energy, adjustment of protein intake according to the stage of the disease, weight management, maintenance of as much muscle mass as possible), prevent and manage electrolyte disturbances (e.g. hyperkalemia, hyperphosphatemia), regulate blood pressure and lipid profile as well as control the glycemic index in patients with co-occurring diabetes.

Therefore, in the hope of providing the Nephrology Community with the opportunity to have a strong ally in the field of nutritional support and dietary counseling, we are pleased to announce our cooperation with Opus Nutrition, a branch of the company Opus-Materia.

Our goal is to provide personalized dietetic-nutritional care, which includes a detailed assessment of the nutritional status, diagnosis of nutrition-related problems, Individualized intervention / counseling, and reassessment of our intervention scheme, whenever necessary, always focusing attention on the support of the patient and the optimal management of the disease, thus, ensuring the best possible quality of life for the person with CKD.

Together Opus Nutrition & PaulBill are launching for the first time nationwide, the Nutrition Μaster Nutrition Master Nephrology edition platform for the management of patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD), available in both web edition and app for android and iOS.

The Nutrition Master Nephrology edition is a platform, which is addressed to nephrologists and manages data from the dietary evaluation of individuals with pre-end-stage renal disease or dialysis patients.

The information, to which the nephrologist-user gains access, refers to specific data of the medical history of his or her patient as well as data related to the nutritional status and in particular, the body weight, body composition, functionality, along with the goals set and the nutritional intervention suggested by the dietitian in charge.

These data are entered into the platform by the dietitian-nutritionist at the dietetics department of Opus Nutrition at the end of each session. In this way, through his or her computer or mobile phone (mobile app), the nephrologist is constantly able to monitor the progress of the nutritional status of his or her patient, the nutritional intervention that has been proposed depending on the stage of the disease and the comorbidities, as well as the degree at which the intervention is implemented and adopted by the patient and its effectiveness.

The digital platform Nutrition Master Nephrology edition is a practical tool in the hands of the nephrologist and with its use and an optimal collaboration between the nephrologist and the dietitian, the patient will be able to enjoy the benefits of nutritional care.
